Here is a poem I wrote awhile ago that our family uses for Thanksgiving. We are SO thankful for God’s blessings and His love that binds us:) The photo is our clan last year. (I am “The Original Spice Girl” in the back right)
“A Family Thanksgiving Prayer”
Thank You, Father, for this day
And family with whom we pray
We give all thanks to You dear Lord
for blessings only You afford
like family we know and love
That You’ve ordained from up above
Around this table bind us please
and make our time to honor Thee
And as we eat too much to tell
Make us grateful for the swell
Your bounty is appreciated
And the loving hands that made it
On this day and those to come
May we more like You become
Happy Thanksgiving, early. May you and yours be blessed with good health, love and many more sweet memories!
The following verses inspired me to write a poem about fasting. It is a special, faithful, beautiful act between us and God:)
When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:16-18
“Let us Fast”
Let us fast from food and things
To lessen what we hold
And create more space for God
Whose worth is more than gold
Let’s not tell we’re doing so
Or show that we are sad
“Fresh of face” so all can see
God always keeps us glad
With sacrifice, we’re getting more
Of God and His great love
His wisdom multiplies to us
To guide us from above
Only God alone should know
If we would do a fast
For only God and God alone
Can truly hold us fast.
Have an amazing day with the Father. He loves us so much!
A poem inspired by thankfulness for God’s forgiveness. I mess up sometimes, so I am grateful for God’s new mercy each day!
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.Lamentations 3: 22-23
It’s a new day
I always say
to start again
this day to win
for Jesus!
With baby steps
go to the Lord
Heart-walk the way
of God’s accord
and please Him!
Have a great day, knowing God loves you and every new day is a fresh start!
Ever feel like the trials in your life really rock your heart like storms on an ocean? Dramatic, I guess, but that’s how I felt when I wrote this. It seems that God’s Word is the only thing that can calm the storms and I am okay with that. In fact, I rejoice over it! He is a GOOD Father!
The Glassy Sea
Emotions rage and roll in every part
Upon the glassy sea that is my heart
Churned by life’s decisions there is stress
Until my Jesus speaks, then happiness
He tells me of the choices we must make
In paths of struggle, ‘oft without a break
And as the ocean softens every shell
His love will smooth my heart in every swell
He files my feelings, molds them to His way
Submitting to His will keeps joy in bay
As only God can do, He calms my sea
Soothes emotion’s storm inside of me
I ride in peace in waters of His love
His buoyant hope has turned my eyes above
My temporary life, though it will pass
Leads me to the only One that lasts
Eternity will never sorrow hold
For troubles do not live on streets of gold
With love from the Father to you, have a great day, knowing God’s got you!
Here’s a poem that was inspired by a sermon at my church. It got me to thinking we need to look inward more and really consider motives for doing things. I, for one, do not always stop to think if I have done things with motives that please the Lord. Sometimes we need God to look into our hearts and tell us what HE sees. He is always happy to do so. He loves us so much and wants the best for us!
To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue. All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Proverbs 16:2
Magnify My Motives
God, please magnify the inner part of me
I need Your eyes to shine inside and tell me what they see
Is there something there that goes against Your word
Please tell me if I’ve done some wrong, a sin that I’ve obscured
While I try so hard to do my best for You
I do confess I disregard the “smaller sins” it’s true
Lord please take it all, my life, my heart, my soul
And show me where I need to change to give you full control
Even when life’s hard, I’ll glorify Your name
Because I know You never fail to always be the same
Friends, please have a great Thursday. I hope you feel the love and peace of the Lord. He deserves all glory, every morning, noon and night:)
Good morning, friends! I have been away a bit, but God has never stopped urging me to write, so here I am. My favorite thing in the world to do is to write, but I have resisted it for a long while because…well, maybe my journal entry I actually wrote this morning is the best way to explain…I am being brave and getting personal. Here goes…
November 11, 2025
I just listened to “The King is Coming” on Spotify and it touched my heart! As i imagined hearing the trumpet sound to signal Jesus’ coming, I got excited. I could almost hear the scurrying of angels feet as they dressed in robes and assembled to sing for the biggest celebration of all. I can feel my lips curving into a smile as the words to this song pervade my heart and mind, my room, my office. (I must look silly, sitting here all alone with a big grin on my face. But I am not alone. HE is here!)
Sidenote…cars are driving by my house in a rush to work and I find myself thinking…”Are you ready for Jesus to come?” I want to ask them. I want to hope they are ready.
Then, I think…Am I totally ready?…Yes! He’s my Savior!, but…
No, I am not ready. I haven’t done enough for Him. for others. Please, Lord may I have more time to love others that need you? May I be able to write again after all the trials of the last few years?
I am not making excuses, Lord. From now on… Hold on…
***Something cool just happened this second, while typing. I heard this phrase being sung, from the song “He Touched ME”…”I will never cease to praise Him” That’s it, Lord. I get it and I will never cease to praise You!
Ok, back to the journal entry…
I am not making excuses, Lord. from now on, I’ll write during trials. Please say hi to My brother John, , Aunt Freddie, Uncle Bill, Dad Crute and now Mom Crute, Dad Glynn and Mom Glynn and David, Sarah, Aunt Carol, Elgie Wilmoth, and especially Momma Dillard and my Momma. Tell her I am writing and singing every day, because of her, because of YOU.
So that’s it. That’s my heart. God is so good. We have lost so many family members in the last few years, BUT, we will see them again in heaven. Sometimes I don’t focus enough on that. We also had a house fire, a small one, that threatened to destroy our joy, but, thanks to our gracious Lord, He has taught us and brought us through it. Friends, I hope you have a great day and week, wherever you are.
Maybe that’s a new slogan for me to cling to, maybe you too. “I have been bought, taught and brought by the lamb of God!”
