A poem inspired by Sunday’s sermon on prayer and fasting:)
When we pray, because we should
Like Jesus told us to
Let’s pray in earnest, all alone
For none but God need know
Let us ask that mercy comes
Forgives us of our sin
Let’s not be like the Pharisees
Who prayed for praise of men
Fancy words impress God not
In fact, He’d rather hear
Our humble words of thanks to Him
It’s music to His ears
Let’s adore our Father God
With hallowed time and space
He’ll gift us wisdom of His own
To help us run our race
Since our will is to do HIS
Within this world of stress
Let’s ask for His amazing peace
The gospel to profess
Most of all, let’s praise our King
Come close to Him in prayer
For being still and knowing Him
Brings joy beyond compare.
With love from the Father to you, have a great day:)
