You Keep Me

Going through my old or unfinished poems, I found one I wrote in 1983. God has always been there for me. I realize that fully as I read my words from 42 years ago, when I was just a “baby.” As I didn’t know any better about poetry then, I added a “chorus” so it could be sung:)

You Keep Me

Whenever I’m hurting inside

My heart won’t let go of its pride

Emotions I just try to hide

While You keep calling to me

You’re always near, always pleading

Always for me, interceeding

Even at Calvary bleeding

There, you were thinking of me

Please fill me with Your holy peace

That my joy will ever increase

My burdens will quickly release

Fill me, then fill me again

And Lord, please send lots of Your love

That sweetly flows down from above

Descends on a spirit-filled dove

And quiets my hurting soul

Chorus…

Wonderful Spirit comes from You, Jesus

You see our needs and come then to feed us

Wonderful Spirit take over my being

You’re keeping my heart so I will keep singing

With love from the Father to you,

Tina
