This poem is inspired by Psalm 116, when David cries out to God and God answers! David’s response? He praises God:)
God listens to me, oh the joy that brings
His mercy reaches down and makes me sing
He turns His ear to hear me when I call
As long as I shall live, I’ll give Him all
When cords of death came seeking after me
When anguish met with pure anxiety
There’s only one thing that made sense at all
So on the name of Jesus I did call
Precious Lord, I feel Your full compassion
Righteousness will be my soul’s new fashion
Protecting me when I was unaware
You brought me low and brought me to Your care
Because you’re good to me , You ease my soul
You saved me from my stumbling feet. I’m whole
So now I walk Your way in steadfast love
And live upon the land with eyes above
I’ve trusted You in each afflicted day
I won’t believe the lies that people say
For all the goodness You have shown me Lord
Returning praise to You I can afford
Lifting up my cup of full salvation
I will fulfill my vows as is my station
My mother served you. I will do the same
You’ve freed me from my chains. I praise Your name
I’ll sacrifice to thank You for Your care
Call on Your name with offering I bear
I’ll fulfill my vows for all to see
Your courts will hear all praise that comes from me
With love from our ever-hearing, ever-helping Father, have a great Monday!
