His Blood Covers All

Cross, Crucifix, Jesus, Crucifixion

Do you ever wonder why people do the things they do? Do you shake your head in amazement at the crazy things going on in the world today? I do, but then I remember….all is not hopeless! God has a plan to save us from our sin, so there is hope for the world! The blood of His Son, Jesus, covers a multitude of sins.

Today’s devotion is simple, because, well, sometimes the simple, basic truth needs to be dwelled on the most. There was and is a problem, sin, and God solved it. It is that simple and wonderful!

Here is the problem as Paul describes it…

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. Timothy 3:1-5 NIV

We all have sinned, have lived for self, then Jesus’ blood saved us to a better life and purpose! He is the answer to our problems. My words do not seem to be sufficient so here is God’s Word with the answer. Inspired by God, Paul writes…

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,  he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,  so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.  This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. Titus 3:1-8 NIV

There is a problem and God solved it. I wanted to stress this simple but profound truth because…God has the answer to every problem we face. He is the answer. No matter the craziness and evil that goes on in the world and hearts, Jesus’ blood covers all. We cannot give up believing that men and women can be saved from sin. Jesus’ blood was shed for all of us and it covers a multitude of sins.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 NIV

I think we need encouragement or at least I do this morning and, as usual, God delivered! We should not lose hope! Just as God had an answer for sin, He has answers for all of life’s problems. Trust Him and His plan and have peace and hope! Do not stop doing good, as Paul describes above. Do not stop believing that people with all backgrounds and histories can be saved. All is not lost. Jesus can be found.

Dear Father,

Thank You does not seem to express how grateful we are for Your answer to sin and answers in Your Word, for all of our fears and problems. You have it all covered, so we do not need to lose hope. We do not deserve Your goodness but You give it every day. We see it when we focus on You. Thank You for being our answer and our hope. Help us to share this answer with the world and do good, believing that all can be saved, not because of the good we do, but the good You do. We love You! Amen

With love from the Father to you, be encouraged that God is on the throne, in control of our world:)

I Will Praise Him. He is Worthy.

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Psalm 145:1-3 NIV

I just woke up with these words on my mind, to the tune of “Hallelujah what a Savior.” You may not be old enough to remember that song, but it is a great hymn of praise! Our God, our King, is worthy!!

I Will Praise Him. He is Worthy

Jesus died upon the tree. Bringing life for you and me. We can live eternally.

I will praise Him. He is worthy!

Though He sinned not, no not He. Dying was His destiny. God had planned eternity.

I will praise Him. He is worthy!

Others made a mockery. Then our King died dutifully. Our God raised Him on day three.

I will praise Him! He is worthy!

When we seek Him earnestly. Then confess our sins, you see. He will give forgiveness free.

I will praise Him. He is worthy!

Sinner used to be my name. Then, inside my heart He came. Now His child, I will proclaim.

I will praise Him. He is worthy!

Do you know Him as your King? Have you confessed everything? Ask Him now. Your heart will sing.

You will praise Him. He is worthy!

Now for all our days and years, Jesus calms our doubts and fears. Heaven comes when He appears.

We will praise Him! He is worthy!

The Father’s Plan

The Father’s Plan

A memory just came to me that reminded me of our Father’s love for us. When I was five, I stole a pack of gum while in the checkout line with my mother. I remember I was so mad that she told me “no”, that I took it anyway. Then, as I tried to walk out of the store slowly so the gum would not fall out of the cuffed waistband of my jumper, I was sure I had a “bad girl” sign stamped on me.

What had I done?! I couldn’t put it back now. Everyone would see! All I could do was wallow in my “bad girl” situation that I created.

Later that evening, at bedtime, my mom called me down to talk about the gum. I do not remember getting a spanking, though I expected one. What I do remember…she gently told me…

“This is not something Jesus approves of so we can never do it again. We do not steal in this family.” The next morning, I had to go back to the cashier and apologize and ask her to forgive me.

She looked at me and said, That’s okay.” Her being so gentle with me when I did something wrong, made me feel worse. How could she be that way? I deserved punishment! How could my momma love me still and be gentle with me when I had gone against her rules?

The same way God does. He knows we are human and have a tendency to be selfish and sinful. But, like a loving Father, He made a plan to teach His, much better, way! He cares more about teaching us and having a good relationship with Him, than condemning us for our sin. He sent Jesus to die for the whole world. Let that sink in. That means He did it for you, me, all of us!

For God so loved the world, that He gave us His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV

Father,

Thank You for Your plan to forgive me of my sins and teaching me the way to be with You forever. Even as an adult, I mess up when my selfishness takes over my heart. Please forgive me. I will do my best to learn from You, because You are my heavenly Father that I want to please. Give me opportunity today to tell someone else about You. I love You so much, Father God! Amen

Love and prayers to all. Have a great Monday!

Just me. Just His.
